Volunteers helping a neighbor with yard work

Who we serve

Senior citizens

Neighbors who need a hand keeping a home and yard safe, clean, and livable.

Veterans

Those who served, and the households standing beside them.

Individuals with disabilities

Practical help that restores dignity and makes daily life more manageable.

Neighbors with limited resources

Households who cannot currently afford the repairs or upkeep they need.

How UCAN works

We do not do the work ourselves. We make sure the right people find each other.

Through volunteers, businesses, organizations, and community partners, neighbors are connected with people who may choose to offer yard clean-up, basic home maintenance, housekeeping, and other home-related help. A simple verification process confirms each request first.

01

Ask for help

A neighbor, caregiver, or friend submits a request describing the need.

02

We verify

UCAN uses a simple verification process before anyone is connected to the network.

03

We connect

Volunteers, businesses, and partners who choose to help are introduced to the neighbor.

About UCAN

A grassroots network, not a church — and not a handout.

UCAN is an independent community organization in startup phase, centered on compassion, hope, love, unity, and service. We welcome everyone, regardless of religious belief or background. The work is meaningful help that restores dignity.

  • Verify every request before connecting the referral network
  • Invite local businesses to offer discounted or donated labor
  • Build a county-wide web of neighbors who show up

Let’s make a difference together.

Whether you need a hand, can give a Saturday, or want to fund the network — LaPorte County is stronger undivided.
